The Name
Why MORA?
The mora tree is one of the hardwoods of the Caribbean: slow-growing, deeply rooted, and built to last through whatever the region throws at it. It is the kind of foundation we aim to provide for our clients.
MORA also carries the names of the two people who built this firm and who remain personally accountable for every client relationship. You work directly with an experienced team that lives here, led by Monique and Ray.
Our Story
The island we chose
We did not arrive in Antigua for work. We chose it, deliberately, having lived and worked across the Caribbean and North America, and having spent enough time here to understand what makes this island genuinely different.
The beauty is real. So is the community, the pace of life, and the opportunity. We raise our family here. We built our business here. And when we advise a client on whether Antigua is the right place for them, we are speaking from the inside, not from a brochure.

Monique Johnson is Principal Broker and Lead Designer at MORA. She brings more than two decades of experience across real estate, investment strategy, interior design, and client advisory, spanning the Caribbean and North America, from residential and investment properties to luxury acquisitions and full-service design engagements.
Her media background, including Cityline, HGTV Property Brothers, W Network Buying the View, and Aspire TV, reflects a design credibility that goes well beyond real estate credentials alone. At MORA, Monique leads client relationships, investment strategy, and design vision, and holds the broader ambition for what the firm can deliver for its clients on the island.

Ray Akram is Managing Partner at MORA, bringing 20 years of hands-on real estate, construction, operations, and client advisory experience across home building, high-rise condominiums, subdivisions, custom homes, and hospitality development.
His training in construction project management and blueprint reading through George Brown College gives MORA genuine design-build capability: not just the language of construction, but the practical ability to plan, source, coordinate, and deliver. At MORA, Ray oversees procurement, contractor relationships, and on-the-ground execution. Alongside operations and construction oversight, Ray works directly with clients to help translate their goals into practical next steps on island.

Poochie, Chief Bark Officer
Every great team has a secret weapon. Ours is Poochie: our Italian Mastiff, island resident, and self-appointed head of security at MORA HQ. She does not take calls or answer emails, but if you visit us in person, she will absolutely expect to be introduced first.
